Job Description Catering Events Coordinator

Education
Successful completion of Grade 12 or GED diploma or a combination of relevant education, training and/or experience in food and beverage.
Successful completion of Food Safe handling Certificate.


Experience
Minimum two (2) years experience within a food and beverage department.
Experience in catering, banquets, and coordination of staff.


Knowledge
Knowledge of SIGA's guiding principles, structure, and First Nations culture.
Working knowledge of food and beverage operations, including health and safety, catering, scheduling, and supervision.
Knowledge of safe food handling practices.
Knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls and presentation.

Ability to analyse issues or problems, consider multiple factors, and develop creative solutions.

Condition of Employment
Must consent to a background check in order to qualify as a gaming employee
Must obtain and maintain a gaming employee Certificate of Registration from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA)
Must be 19 years of age or older
Must possess valid Saskatchewan Driver’s License and acceptable driving record



Other Information
Could be exposed to tobacco smoke, high noise levels and sharp objects (during floor management of events)
Irregular hours including evenings, nights, weekends
Strict dress code
Steam (hot meals and beverages, chafing dishes)
Freedom of movement
Lifting (up to 50 lbs)
Pushing/Pulling (up to 50 lbs, tables/chairs, during floor management of events)
Stretching/Reaching (during floor management of events)

Main Duties
Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, this position ensures that Casino guests enjoy exceptional customer service, memorable facilities, and quality, value priced dining, by coordinating, budgeting and planning catering and special event operations. Responsibilities include: Monitoring event setup with scrupulous attention to detail, to ensure event plans are carried out to exceed client expectations. Overseeing the event itself, assisting in problem resolution and troubleshooting, and monitoring service quality. Interacting with existing and potential clients regarding all aspects of the Casino’s event facilities, services and packages, from initial inquiry to post-event follow up. Coordinating sales and marketing of Catering & Event services. Leading staffing and performance management activities. Communicating policies, procedures and standards to staff. Providing effective and timely tracking and reporting of Catering & Events activities. Handling general accounting and bookkeeping tasks related to payment and billing. Modeling SIGA’s values, and presenting a positive image of SIGA in the community. Participating in other projects and activities as required, to ensure the smooth operating of the Casino’s catering operations.
