Catering Events Supervisor

Education Successful completion of Grade 12 or GED diploma or a combination of relevant education, training and/or experience. Successful completion of Food Safe Handling Certificate and Responsible Service of Alcohol
Experience Minimum one year supervisory experience in Food and Beverage, Banquet or Catering environment required. Experience assisting with training and coaching staff while in a supervisor role
Knowledge Knowledge of SIGA's guiding principles, structure, and First Nations culture. Working knowledge of food and beverage operations, including health and safety, catering, scheduling, and supervision. Knowledge of safe food handling practices.
Skills and Abilities Ability to support change with optimism and openness. Ability to select the appropriate communication methods and tools, depending on the audience and situation. Ability to support and engage employees to provide exceptional customer service/hospitality. Ability to exercise judgement regarding day-to-day priorities and situations. Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with other departments and units. Ability to gather, interpret, and prepare accurate information in a timely manner. Ability to use personal commitment and positive attitude to motivate and guide others to achieve goals. Ability to effectively supervise others to ensure accuracy and quality of work.

Condition of Employment Must consent to a background check in order to qualify as a gaming employee Must obtain and maintain a gaming employee Certificate of Registration from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) Must be 19 years of age or older
Other Information Could be exposed to high noise levels Irregular hours including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays Congested workplace Strict dress code Standing/Walking (2hrs during events) Lifting (up to 15lbs, dishes and tableware) Pushing/Pulling (up to 50lbs, tables and chairs) Stretching/Reaching (carrying out table set, retrieving supplies)
Main Duties Reporting to the Catering/Events Coordinator, this position ensures that guests enjoy the Casino’s memorable facilities, and quality, value priced dining, by supervising the set up and execution of events held in the Casino’s MPR. Responsibilities include: Overseeing room set up per event plan instructions. Communicating effectively with other Casino departments regarding event requirements. Monitoring provision of guest service throughout the event. Assisting department management with staffing and performance management. Communicating policies, procedures and standards to staff. Revising staff schedules to meet operational needs and control costs. Carrying out a wide variety of administrative tasks. Participating in other projects and activities as required, to ensure the smooth execution of events.
