Job Description Accounting Officer

Education
Successful completion of a Business Administrative course with a specialization in computerized accounting, or related field, from a recognized institution or a combination of relevant education, training and/or experience.

Experience
Must have experience processing accounts payable and other general administrative and accounting duties.
Working Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems—JD Edwards or other integrated payable software.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Working with many diversified situations and personalities.


Knowledge
Knowledge of SIGA’s mission, vision, guiding principles and business values.
Knowledge of and respectful of First Nations culture, values, beliefs, traditions and protocols.
Knowledge of accounting principles and theories.


Skills and Abilities
Consistently motivated to perform work and assignments with an attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
Participates effectively as a team member to help define and achieve team goals.
Very good oral and written communication skills, able to express oneself clearly.
Able to provide prompt, efficient and courteous service which is consistent with First Nations’ Traditions and Cultures.

Condition of Employment
Must consent to a background check in order to qualify for a Gaming License.
Must obtain and maintain a gaming employee certification of registration from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming
Authority (SLGA).
Must be 19 years of age or older.



Other Information
Willing to work evenings and weekends.
Must be willing to travel for operational need.
Sit for long periods of time.



Main Duties
Reporting to the Director of Accounting Services, the Accounting Officer is responsible for preparing and processing accounts payable while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Responsibilities include: Entering invoices and maintaining accurate information on accounts accrued or paid; Preparing cheques and filing required reports; Preparing a variety of accounting reconciliations on a regular basis; Assisting with year end analysis and reports for auditing purposes; Establishing relationships with suppliers and reconciles supplier statements to invoices; Answering a variety of inquiries pertaining to financial accounts; Calculating and recording manual cheques as required; Other duties as assigned by the Director of Accounting Services or Controller.
