Job Description:

We are looking for a high energy techy who will help drive the database elements surrounding our proprietary LAMP order management systems.

This position will report to the Director, Software Development and work with our developers and network admins to help define solutions and architecture, assist the team with problems and technical roadblocks and help drive the execution of our increasingly Agile SDLC. MySQL Database Administrator is responsible for the following:


Being part of a team that builds great software and improves the systems we already have
Install, configure, monitor and maintain databases in the production, development, and quality assurance environments

Implement solutions for database performance monitoring and tuning

Recommend operational efficiencies, eliminate duplicate work efforts and remove unnecessary complexities; create and implement new procedures and workflows

Assist team with complex queries and data retrieval

Process database change requests, including the creation and modification of databases, tables, views, stored procedures, triggers, jobs, etc. in accordance with change control policies
Work outside of normal business hours as required for completing projects, working on deployments and resolving system outages

Utilize an understanding of Agile management to help the team with all release and configuration related tasks around software builds into preproduction and production environments.

3-5 years experience in MySQL, Linux, and various scripting languages

Additional knowledge with PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL, and/or MongoDB is a plus

Extensive knowledge of administration, replication, backup and restore of relational databases
Solid understanding of load balancing and high volume, high availability environments
Knowledge of SDLC and project management methodologies, especially Agile and bonus points if you know JIRA

Must be funny, seriously; its a deal breaker

Database maintenance and development, coordination, and execution skills

Able to analyze and review current functionality to determine potential areas of improvement

Ability to work independently with minimal guidance in a fast-paced environment

Ability to enjoy what you do and a true love of databases to solve challenging problems

Demonstrate excellent communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers

Strong work ethic with good time management with ability to work with diverse teams and lead meetings

Bachelor's degree in Computer science or equivalent, with more than 6 years of experience
