Job Description Inventory Manager

Under the general direction of the Business Unit Director, the position is responsible to effectively manage the service and inventory levels for a major category of products. Principle accountabilities include:
•Contributing to the overall financial effectiveness of a major category through effective Service Level and Inventory
•Overseeing and directing the day to day operations related to new product purchases, product replenishment and the clearance of delisted and overstocked items, while at the same time, ensuring service and inventory levels are efficiently balanced
•Maintaining an "open to buy" orientation and leveraging purchase opportunities to enhance the financial effectiveness of the category
•Providing analysis and feedback to the Business Unit Director and the category management team to assist with new product planning, promotional planning and effective clearance and closeout procedures
•Effective managing of staff and activities in the Inventory Management area

•Position requires superior multi-disciplined business skills and knowledge (i.e. inventory management and control,
financial and operational management and business analysis) that would normally be obtained through relative work experience complemented by a post secondary education in a related discipline
•Strong, demonstrated progressive management experience, preferably in the areas of retailing, with emphasis
on inventory management and control, purchasing and financial management, is critical
•Demonstrated ability to leverage information technology (i.e. PC's and mainframe software) on diverse and varied applications
•Familiarity with beverage alcohol industry and associated product knowledge
•Position requires strong negotiation skills and the ability to take educated risks
•Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills combined with well-developed communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, leadership and motivational abilities are essential to this position
