Job Description Intermediate PC Specialist

Reporting to the Manager of End User Computing, you will support requests for technical assistance and maintenance of LCBO personal computing hardware and software through the use of incident and problem management systems. Support personal computing hardware and software, including; operating systems and applications; desktops, laptops, notepads, wireless and mobile devices; printers and peripherals; networking and communications; client-server technologies; and user account management. Support personal computing life cycles by; identifying requirements for the purchase and implementation of hardware and software; receiving, preparing and deploying hardware and software; maintaining technical and procedural documentation; recovering desktop systems through business continuity exercises; and ensuring that all procedures are consistent with LCBO standards and best practices. Provide status reports on weekly activities, including time reporting and contributions to projects and other assignments. Standard working hours are 8:30 – 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Some shift work may be required to accommodate 7:30 am to 5:00 pm work streams. Some travel may be required to support remote users. Some 24/7 pager support is required on a rotational basis.

•A professional and courteous manner is essential, including good communication and interpersonal skills, as demonstrated by excellent customer service experience. Must be an established team player, able to work closely with fellow employees and various support groups, including external resources.
•Experience using resolution tools and techniques to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve issues with personal computer hardware, printers, peripherals, operating systems, application software, Internet and Intranet services, network connectivity and domain user management.
•Knowledge and experience with Microsoft and MAC operating systems, McAfee Anti-virus, Microsoft and other desktop business and utility software, Windows security and user accounts, HW/SW deployment tools, remote desktop management tools, and Incident reporting and resolution tools and techniques.
•Knowledge and experience in Incident Resolution, Disaster Recovery Procedures, Hardware and Software Deployment.
•Knowledge and experience usually obtained through post-secondary education or a combination of education and progressive work experience. MCP or A+, and other certification will be considered.
