Job Description Financial Analyst (Accounting Policy)

Reporting to the Supervisor, this position will be responsible for the following:
•Develop and coordinate the implementation of accounting policies primarily relating to specific areas of IFRS
•Work with the Supervisor to plan and manage the development of accounting policies for unique transactions. This requires a consultative process with input from various departments in order to properly identify issues, research possible alternatives under IFRS and, after considering priorities and implications, make recommendations.
•Respond to accounting changes proposed by CICA, IASB, and PSAB.
•Prepare various models and perform analysis on impacts related to the financial statements
•Design and implement the necessary financial disclosure requirements
•Assist in preparing external financial statements and their related note disclosure
•Assist Controller’s Office in including relevant information within the MD&A
•Work with finance team to design and implement enhanced financial reporting controls
•Work on various projects and operational activities as directed by the Supervisor or Controller

Qualifications:
•As a financial professional, you will have a post-secondary education in a financial or related field and ideally an accounting designation (CGA, CMA or CA)
•Demonstrated experience dealing with and applying various accounting issues
•Experience with compliance and internal controls (i.e. SOX, ICFR, etc.)
•Significant experience in an accounting/auditing function (retail experience is a definite asset)
•Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical and problem solving skills
•Able to promote and maintain collaborative relationships with both finance and non-finance staff
•Strong proficiency in excel is a must.
