Job Description Financial Analyst (Retail Accounting)

Join our Retail Accounting department, and use your progressive, in-depth, current retail business knowledge in financial accounting, point-of-sale, sales audit and financial systems to provide comprehensive reconciliation processes and business analysis. You will participate in financial systems projects/upgrades and implementation for various complex POS, sales audit and inventory initiatives to ensure integrity of GL reporting. The principal duties of the position are as follows:

•Sales Audit administration for Balance and Analytics – point-of-sale data integrity, error resolution, monitoring/trending for key accounts, periodic reconciliations through to Oracle GL
•Financial system client acceptance testing for current procedures/new projects/upgrades as assigned.
•Periodic reporting and analysis for retail stores and depots – Retail sales & margin analysis, inventory analysis and associated reporting.
•Year End Tasks – work with Retail, IT & Finance to ensure that all required year end objectives are met.
•Provide technical leadership and guidance to department staff members and project teams.

The principal programs to be used are Sales Audit, Oracle, Business Information, Info-library, Microsoft Programs (Access, Word, Excel, Project Management and Visio).

Qualifications:
Requires sound knowledge of intermediate accounting and financial processes/concepts acquired through a combination of demonstrated experience within an accounting environment and post secondary education in a business field. Actively working towards a recognized accounting designation. Requires a thorough understanding of retail accounting practices and retail business operations to facilitate accurate, timely and comprehensive reporting and analysis. Demonstrated experience with automated financial systems and reporting is also necessary, preferably using Oracle Financials and Sales Audit software. An advanced knowledge of MS Access, Excel and Word is essential, as are excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
