As a Research Assistant, you will provide technical support to economists and analysts and perform other operational tasks such as data collection, the production of figures and charts, and statistical analysis. You will work independently and in collaboration with other team members.
assess data availability for Canadian fixed-income data (primarily sovereign and corporate bond data, including price/yield, spread, volume) collect, organize and manipulate data from internal and external data sources, using statistical methods assist in the evaluation, adaptation, design and development of applications, tools and reports (e.g., spreadsheets) to aid in financial market analysis improve and integrate infrastructure to increase efficiencies develop and document the processes, procedures and controls facilitate information and document management maintain collaborative relationships by acting as the point of contact with the systems and data services and business support team participate in departmental or Bank-wide initiatives as required
bachelors degree in economics, computer science or mathematics, or in commerce/business administration with a finance major English or French essential ability to organize work to ensure that production schedules are met ability to work independently and as part of a team excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet program and presentation software) demonstrated commitment to learning and self-development
good communication skills in both official languages knowledge of econometrics experience in supporting economic research highly developed programming skills (MATLAB, Stata, VBA, etc.)
