The Business Analyst contributes to the work of the Retail Debt Team by building an understanding of the Retail Debt Program and applying this knowledge to the team’s responsibilities. The Business Analyst works under the general direction of the Manager, Operations, with additional support from the other staff in the Retail Debt Team. The specific duties assigned to the Business Analyst would include such tasks as leading operational- and technical-based projects, and/or providing support for business analysis, planning and reporting. The Business Analyst represents the team and actively participates in governance meetings and project meetings with external and internal stakeholders. The successful candidate is expected to take a lead role in actively advocating for future program improvements and for customer experience as it relates to the program direction. These duties may change over time as new business and technical requirements and opportunities present themselves.
•provide leadership in the development, evolution and promotion of best practices, techniques, methods and tools•lead the analysis and implementation of technical projects that are aligned wtih the program’s strategic direction to meet evolving business objectives •initiate and conduct high-quality technical and business analysis, and recommend courses of action regarding changing solutions and technical architecture that could provide opportunities and influence business requirements •analyze business context (trends and business strategy) to recommend operational changes and/or technical solutions to achieve business needs•identify business issues that require escalation and propose appropriate corrective actions•manage projects: organize, analyze and summarize data used; analyze and report program results, and track results against forecast and business objectives•provide advice and assistance from a business perspective in all phases of the development methodology cycle to implement the required solution•maintain and strengthen long-term relationships or partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and, when required, help manage third-party service suppliers’ relationships within the established governance framework and contractual obligations•write and edit notes on analysis provided and strategic direction for the program•provide leadership and drive continuous improvement through internal feedback to team members and colleagues, mentorship to junior staff, sharing of technical and professional experience, and the promotion of analytical thinking, creativity and innovation
•a completed undergraduate degree with a major in information technology, and experience in web design•a completed Business Analysis Professional certification program or currently enrolled in the completion of this program•a completed Project Management Professional certification program or currently enrolled in the completion of this program and•a minimum of six years of experience providing consultation in the development of business requirements and system design and the delivery of business analysis, ensuring proper consideration of people, processes and technology•demonstrated understanding of software development methodologies such as structured analysis and design, object-oriented analysis and design, and component-based development•demonstrated experience in business analysis for large initiatives and the ability to contribute to the development of a comprehensive systems strategy•experience in writing and managing requirements for technical changes involving and/or having an impact on stakeholdersin addition•English and French essential •functional in second official language (training will be provided to help the selected candidate to reach the required level of fully functional) •highly developed analytical and conceptual skills•strong business acumen, including the ability to translate business needs into application solutions•ability to influence others and effectively gain their commitment •ability to collaborate effectively with others by sharing information or expertise, by seeking and valuing others’ insights, and by actively contributing to team efforts•ability to communicate in writing to define complex problems or issues and to propose responses; ability to write and edit documents covering complex issues to ensure comprehensive and effective communication; ability to write sensitive documents and to provide effective substantive feedback to others’ drafts•ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences by adapting language, by clarifying complex information and by conveying sensitive information in a clear, precise and effective way•ability to think strategically to develop long-range visions and long-term objectives and to understand the context and capabilities of the organization and the potential impact of change•sound knowledge of Microsoft project and office management tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio) and expertise in Access•ability to bring a wide range of considerations and perspectives to issues and to ensure that careful analysis is a precondition of policy formulation and decision making•ability to multi-task, maintaining accuracy, attention to detail and timeliness while meeting deadlines
