Position Summary

The Cleaner (Grand Theatre) is responsible to perform general cleaning and maintenance duties in order to ensure an enjoyable theatre experience for customers, theatre crews and performers.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clean all areas of the theatre including entrance and exit areas, dressing rooms, offices, kitchen areas and stage area;

Responsible for the maintenance of washrooms; wash and disinfect washroom floors, toilets, partitions, hand dryers, mirrors and fixtures. Replenish washroom supplies as needed;

Responsible for the general maintenance of the theatre including dusting, cleaning, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and painting;

Collect garbage and recyclables;

On occasion, assist with moving and arranging furniture;

Responsible to ensure the theatre is locked and secured;

On occasion, assist with all aspects of the set up for meetings and events. Duties may include making coffee, setting up catering and laundry;

Maintain outside grounds throughout the year; snow removal, gardening, sweeping etc.;

Advise management when inventory is low and/or assist with ordering supplies;

Report any damages and vandalism to the supervisor;

Respond to alarms;

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Competencies

Completion of High School (Grade 12) diploma or equivalent;

One (1) month experience performing general cleaning and maintenance duties;

Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory CPIC (Criminal Record Check) at own expense;

Must demonstrate corporate competencies: Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, and Teamwork.

Able to maintain good physical condition to meet essential physical demands of the job;

Demonstrated ability to interact with other staff, patrons, performers and crews;

Demonstrated communication skills and the ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions;

Ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis;

Ability to work independently with limited supervision;

Commitment to promoting and following safe work practices;

Able to work independently and as an effective team member;

Demonstrated time management skills required to complete cleaning routines;

Ability to work a variety of shifts, including nights, days and weekends.
