Position Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor, Customer & Administrative Services, the Cashier provides professional and courteous customer service to the general public and various user groups of the City’s recreational facilities.
The Cashier works in a fast paced environment and is responsible for facility bookings, program registration and memberships.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide customer service in a fast paced environment;
Facility bookings, program registration, memberships, cash handling, bank deposits, dressing room coordination, and general clerical duties (including filing);
Coordination of outdoor community signage requests;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Competencies
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent education;
One (1) month of work experience as a cashier and in a customer driven environment;
Must have strong working knowledge of general computer operations including Microsoft Word and Outlook (Tested at Basic Level);
Preference will be given to those candidates with direct experience with CLASS software or equivalent;
Knowledge and experience in a multi-sport recreational facility, local sporting organizations and municipal facilities an asset;
Must demonstrate corporate competencies: Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, and Teamwork.
Skills, Abilities, Work Demands
Must be proficient with computers (CLASS or other point of sale software);
Comfortable working in a stressful environment when dealing with the general public;
Accurate with cash and credit transactions;
Ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented;
Must possess tact, initiative, strong public relations skills and be able to work in a team environment;
Must be able to work daytime, evenings and weekends (flexible hours);
Required to obtain and maintain satisfactory CPIC (Criminal Record Check) including Vulnerable Sector, at own expense.
