Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Coordinator, H&S is responsible for promoting Saputo’s values and culture, all activities related to Health and Safety, Legislation, Health and Safety education and guidance.
• Possess a thorough understanding of local and provincial regulations;• Provide assistance to Operations personnel to execute company safety policies and ensure compliance to all applicable local and provincial regulations;• Act as a resource for managers, supervisors, the JH&SC and plant personnel on policies, procedures, training and practices pertaining to health and safety;• Be proactive in recommending changes to improve our safety and training programs;• The H&S Coordinator must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations and Warehouse Teams and influence change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis;• The H&S Coordinator must be capable of participating in the development of our safety programs and training for all Operations/Warehouse personnel, including Orientation;• Review, audit and analyze site incidents to provide leadership in developing supervisor’s skills in investigating and preparing detailed reports with strong corrective actions;• Provide assistance to the HR function as it relates to our Return to Work program;• Audit the facilities for legislative and corporate compliance and associate behaviors to ensure that training, and preventative measures are addressing areas of opportunity;• Partner with local agencies to develop strong relationships while developing a knowledge base within the dairy/food industry;• Oversee the Environmental Management System including collecting data, organizing and analyzing information and ensuring compliance to local and Corporate policies• Ability to work with minimal supervision and a team attitude with a willingness to learn; • Perform miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as required, and• Promote the Saputo safety Culture to all site employees.
A degree/diploma in Health and Safety or equivalent work experience. CRSP designation is preferred. 3 – 5 years Health and Safety experience in a medium to large organization. Dependable and team oriented with a history of being able to work independently. Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills. Proficiency reporting in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint with the ability to learn other on line systems.
