Position Summary

*NOTE - Rate of Pay Based on 2023 Rates*

Reporting to the Manager, Heritage Programming, the Heritage Operations Assistant provides front-line customer service to visitors to the PumpHouse Museum and City Hall National Historic Site, including selling tickets and gift shop items to visitors, assisting with public programs, delivering tours and providing outstanding customer service. This position will support the larger Heritage Services team in preparing for and assisting in the delivery of programs and exhibitions.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Work primarily onsite at the PumpHouse Museum and other sites (as needed) 

Complete admission, gift shop and sales related tasks for cash and Point of Sale (i.e. debit and credit) machine transactions and check-ins using the online ticking system

Assist visitors with booking tickets and respond to visitor queries

Contribute to public programming for site visitors, including tours of museum exhibitions and collections, assisting in the delivery of education and school programs

Support special events, workshops and programming

Provide general museum administration assistance, including but not limited to data entry, filing and photocopying

Collaborate effectively as part of a large team within the Heritage Services department

Light housekeeping duties, sanitization and site inspections 

Hours include weekend, holidays and evenings, up to 24 hours/week

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Competencies

High School (Grade 12) diploma

6-months Cash Handling Experience, interpretation and programming experience

Public Speaking, customer service experience, providing guided tours, assisting with programming

Must demonstrate corporate competencies: Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, and Teamwork

Skills, Abilities, Work Demands

Proven customer service skills

Bilingualism (English and French) desired; additional languages also welcome

Ability to multi-task, adapt to change, solve problems, work independently and be self-directed when needed is essential

Experience working with infants, toddlers and school-aged children an asset

Public Speaking, customer service experience and leadership skills are an asset

Experience working in a museum, gallery, heritage site, and/or educational setting

Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s License is considered an asset

Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check, including vulnerable sector check
