Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of the Medical Device Reprocessing Department, the key function of this role will be to workas part of a team performing tasks related to reprocessing medical instruments, devices and equipment.

Required

• Grade 12 education or equivalent combination of education and experience,
• Valid Certification in Medical Devices Reprocessing through completion of Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario (MDRAO)Techniques course, completion of a course from a recognized Community College in medical device reprocessing within the last 5 years, or current status from the Canadian Standards Association certification. (Please note: IAHCSMM certification will be recognized providing the required courses CRCST and CER are complete and valid. A condition of employment would be that the successful candidate recertify through the MDRAO within one year of your start date),
• Must successfully complete the required training program within probationary period,
• Must successfully complete an annual skill update program,
• Must successfully fit test for N95 mask. Required to wear task specific PPE,

Duties

• Works as part of a team performing tasks related to reprocessing medical instruments,
devices and equipment,
• Collaborates with nursing staff within the OR as an inter-professional team,
• Prepares instruments for sterilization and operates equipment used in the cleaning and
sterilizing process,
• Inspects and assembles equipment and carts according to established guidelines,
• Performs all assignments in accordance with QHC procedures, QHC Infection Control
Guidelines, CSA standards, Health Canada and manufacturer’s instructions,
• Completes records and legal documentation as required by the above standards,
• Utilize computer systems as required with working knowledge of Meditech software, and
• Other duties as assigned.
