Position Summary

Following Quinte Health and 3SO Policy and leading supply chain practices, the Supply/Receiving Attendant is responsible for all supply related activities from receipt to final delivery of the supplies to their intended destination within the organization

Required

• Grade 12 education, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must successfully complete the required training program within probationary period.
• Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) available to review)

Duties

Supply Attendant Assignment Duties & Responsibilities:
• Replenish and maintain unit supply storage locations ensuring proper supply levels are maintained to meet customer demand
• Liaise with customers, receivers, purchasing and other staff in Hospital Operations in order to avoid supply disruptions
• Utilize and maintain systems to transmit inventory counts, ensuring a high level of integrity/accuracy of items replenished
• Accountable to individual customers, as assigned, responding to customer for all supply needs, stock, or non-stock, routine, or stat
• Respond promptly to product recalls ensuring thorough checks of recalled stock and communicate information to customer and Supervisor/Director, Supply Chain Services


Receiving Attendant Assignment Duties and Responsibilities:
• Accountability for accurate and prompt receipt of materials at the Hospital’s receiving dock
• Ensuring all documentation is properly matched/attached and archived for delivery and auditing purposes
• Responsibility for the timely delivery of materials, ensuring the security of the material and the safety of patients, visitors and staff while navigating public and restricted areas throughout the Hospital
• Creating and performing cycle/physical inventory count activities for accuracy and data integrity
• Ensuring shipping authorizations and shipping documents are properly prepared and archived
• Ensuring the safe handling and distribution of controlled substances and chemicals throughout the institution
• Ensuring proper storage of all material in accordance with WHMIS legislation

Physical Demands Analysis

• Exposure to contaminated and biomedical hazards, isolation rooms, potential infection, and risk of body strains from heavy lifting (up to 50lbs)
• Some exposure to patient rooms
• Daily contact with various hazardous/dangerous materials common to the supply chain within the hospital environments
• Short periods of work within a noisy receiving area created by material handling equipment
• Exposure to high impact noise environment created by material handling equipment and movement
• Potential exposure to the dangers associated with a variety of chemicals and controlled substances. Types of materials may include Flammable, Explosive, Toxic, Corrosive, Infectious, Shock Sensitive, Radioactive and Bio-hazardous materials
• Exposure to weather while in receiving. Temperatures in the work area may fluctuate rapidly (-30 to +30) as dock doors open to external environmental influences. Melting snow and ice contribute to wet floors
