Job Summary

This position is dedicated to a project team (or teams) to provide expertise in the area of IT security. The incumbent collaborates with clients and colleagues to identify user requirements, assess available technologies and recommend security solution options.

Central Responsibilities:

• lead or participate in all phases of the development methodology cycle to implement the required information technology, adding technical know-how, creativity and a seasoned perspective to initiatives and teams
• produce written reports/analyses, as well as technical, operational and procedural documentation
• lead or participate in the design and development of security infrastructures such as public key infrastructure (PKI), firewalls and intrusion detection
• identify project-related scope, risks, issues and changes
• manage and maintain Check Point firewalls
• set up servers for the Internet from a networking aspect (firewall, load balancing, switch, Domain Name System (DNS), security perspective)
• monitor and manage logs on firewall and load balancer
• research, monitor and recommend state-of-the-art technologies that may have an application in the Bank by enhancing productivity and the achievement of the client’s business objectives
• research, develop systems and document solutions for intrusion detection, high-value/high-security networks, information protection strategies, user management and control systems, and ITSEC challenges
• recommend control measures to improve information security, including the evaluation and selection of security products
• resolve complex problems related to systems within area of expertise; apply existing criteria in new ways and may develop new approaches; act as a key contributor to the resolution of issues that cross business environments and functional areas
• design and develop security solutions and ensure that an appropriate level of information protection is achieved
• recommend enhancements to improve information security, including the evaluation and selection of security products and services
• develop security solutions in line with the Bank’s security policies and operational standard and practices
• provide IT advice to management, clients and colleagues on the appropriate direction, evolution and usage of technology (architectures, systems, issues, opportunities, policies and standards) related to field of expertise
• analyze system needs, and perform process re-engineering, operation management and research
• participate in Type 1 – 4 projects and provide advice related to field of expertise
• provide input to service line budgeting and planning
• support the business line’s planning processes
• develop IT standards and guidelines for technology support and administration
• develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external counterparts (partners, clients and suppliers) to support operational objectives
• work with other relevant areas (e.g., Security and Facilities Services) to ensure that systems protocols meet established security policies and operational standards and practices

Key Requirements:

• university degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent experience

and

• a minimum of five years of work experience in IT security field

in addition:

• English or French essential − for job grade 17

or

• English and French essential − for job grade 18
• job grade 18: linguistic requirement (minimum starting level) − intermediate in second official language (training will be provided to help the selected candidate reach the required level of functional)
• knowledge of the following:
o network and operating system security features (e.g., TCP/IP, Windows, Solaris, Cisco)
o network security technologies (e.g., network firewalls, filtering routers, authentication mechanisms, IPSec VPN, server hardening, Entrust PKI, Microsoft CA PKI, Nessus vulnerability scanner)
o standard information and technology security concepts around risks and vulnerabilities (e.g., product weaknesses, process deficiencies, denial of service attacks, viruses) and appropriate countermeasures
o intrusion detection system technology, vulnerability assessment, penetration testing tools and techniques, and monitoring systems (e.g., MARS)
o computer architecture and systems security
o communications security
