Job Summary

We are seeking individuals who possess strong interpersonal and team-building skills to join a team of dedicated and innovative professionals in ITS. You will take the lead in contributing to a quality-assurance centre of excellence.

Your contribution will be critical in maintaining client relations, meeting clients’ business needs, and assessing and improving a wide range of testing methodologies.

Central Responsibilities:

• plan, build and maintain test environments with useful test data
• develop test strategies, test plans, test cases and procedures to uncover bugs and improve the overall quality of the infrastructure and applications
• develop and maintain scripts and other assets that are used to support testing
• carry out test plans and procedures; verify and document test results
• manage the defect process, ensuring that defects are documented, tracked and reported to facilitate timely resolution
• produce and present testing-related reports and information, such as requirement-based coverage, defect age and trends
• analyze the impact of a change from a testing perspective, including time, cost and risk
• prepare testing estimates that incorporate all of the activities that are required to effectively test the system
• research, evaluate and recommend tools and services that support or improve testing
• collaborate with infrastructure and application support staff in resolving defects discovered during testing
• liaise with infrastructure and application support teams and user acceptance team on testing activities
• provide guidance and assistance to user acceptance testing
• participate in work planning and reporting related to system testing
• manage multiple work priorities and demands

Key Requirements:

• bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related discipline, with six years of relevant IT work experience

or

• an equivalent combination of education and experience

in addition:

• English or French essential
• strong written and verbal communication skills
• three or more years of experience in testing complex, mission-critical infrastructure and applications, using a formalized system-testing process and automated test tools
• three or more years of experience in developing test strategies and plans and producing test cases and scripts based on requirements documents or use cases
• experience testing web and/or commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications
• knowledge of and experience with quality-assurance methods and practices, with a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in system testing
• experience with Unix operating system (e.g., Sun Solaris), Linux and Windows
• experience with systems development life cycle, Rational Unified Process (RUP), Unified Modeling Language (UML) and use cases
• experience managing multiple and often conflicting tasks
• strong analytical skills: ability to systematically analyze information, define problems and draw logical conclusions
• conceptual thinking: ability to see the “big picture,” identify trends when analyzing information and use learned concepts when problem solving
• information seeking: ability to seek information by asking probing questions and by pressing for details or clarity
• adaptability and flexibility: ability to show flexibility and effectively respond and adapt to changes and new approaches
• teamwork and collaboration: ability to work effectively with others by sharing information or expertise, by seeking and valuing others’ insights, and by actively contributing to team efforts
• ability to teach and transfer skills to other members in the system testing team and to user acceptance testing personnel

Assets:

• experience in developing and maintaining automated test scripts
• experience with testing tools such as Rational Quality Manager, Rational Functional Tester and/or Rational Performance Tester
• experience with relational databases
• knowledge of object-oriented design, J2EE integrated development environments, web architectures and XML
• IT Service Management certification (i.e., Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) foundation)
• familiarity with the Bank’s organization and technology
