About the position

Successful candidates will receive a scholarship award of $4,000 per year. In addition, each recipient may be offered a paid summer or part-time (throughout the year) work placement at the Bank of Canada.

Work placement opportunities will be determined based on the recipient’s field of study and the Bank’s departmental business requirements. Recipients who reside or attend a post-secondary institution outside of the National Capital Region may be offered the option of working at one of the Bank’s regional offices: Halifax, Montréal, Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver.

Your education and experience

• You are a full-time undergraduate or post graduate (i.e., master’s or PhD) student currently enrolled in a Canadian institution with degree-granting powers.

• You are pursuing studies in a field that is related to the work of the Bank of Canada. These include (but are not limited to):
o economics and finance: economics, computer science, mathematics or statistics, commerce/business administration with a finance major
o administration and operations: financial services, administration and business, project management, human resources, communications and web communications, internal audit, currency production, knowledge and information management, security
o information technology and cyber security: software development, network engineering, solution architecture, project management, business analysis, cyber security

• Because of the timing associated with the selection process, students in their final year of study are not eligible for the scholarship unless they will be pursuing further post-secondary education the year following the completion of the current degree.

Your knowledge and skills

You will be evaluated on the key requirements listed below:
• your curriculum vitae
• your most recent transcript
• overall average mark of a minimum 70 per cent
• a 100–300 word essay about yourself, your decision to pursue your field of study and your career interests


If you are selected as one of the top five candidates, you will be invited to an interview (either in person, by phone or virtually).

Salary

Each candidate will be awarded a scholarship of $4,000 per year for tuition costs. The award will be renewable for up to four years, provided the scholarship recipient remains in good standing with a minimum average mark of 70 per cent.
Candidates selected for the scholarship will be notified in Autumn 2017.
