Job Summary

The Bank of Canada is currently seeking one ECM Deployment Lead to join the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Program team.

Working under the direction of the ECM Program Manager and Business Authority, you will coordinate the efforts of team members to ensure the implementation and support of a new ECM solution (SharePoint). In an agile environment using the Scrum methodology, you will work closely with your team’s Scrum Master, who will help you manage the overall activities of your team members. You will also be required to collaborate with vendors, clients, consultants and colleagues and to lead the deployment of SharePoint to meet business unit needs while maintaining a design model that can be supported by the Bank. You will identify user requirements and recommend the best alternatives to meet the specific needs of the program and the business unit.

You will provide strategic and analytic support focused on the evolution of SharePoint to meet the Bank’s future requirements. The work involves ensuring that the team engages in continuous improvement, as well as exploring and improving on subsequent deployments through retrospective analyses. You play an important role in the ECM Program, which provides services in the planning, design, implementation and support of the SharePoint ECM solution at the Bank.

Leadership, teamwork and client focus are critical aspects of this position. The technical nature of the solution also requires minimum experience in a technical environment. Priority will be given to candidates who regularly deal with change in their current role and who can adapt to change in an innovative manner.

Central Responsibilities:

• lead the deployment of SharePoint in the business unit
• help support a healthy work climate for the project team by providing clear direction and effectively delegating work
• manage project scope to meet client needs, deadlines and the Bank’s deliverables
• provide leadership in the development, evolution and promotion of best practices, techniques, methods and tools
• analyze client business processes, operations and requirements in order to provide advice on how best to deploy the solution
• conduct or oversee risk analysis to support management decision making; escalate appropriately if business requirements are not being met
• facilitate daily stand-up meetings with team to oversee day-to-day work and ensure that issues are brought to the appropriate stakeholders
• represent the team in program meetings to ensure that the team and work priorities are identified and that work assignments are appropriately delegated to meet deadlines
• evaluate potential solutions prior to advising clients or providing them with the technology
• build long-term relationships or partnerships with internal and external clients and suppliers to support business needs; may also be called on to represent the Bank’s interests with stakeholders

Key Requirements:

• a completed college diploma or university degree in administration, information science, computer science, management or information and system management, or a related field


• a minimum of one year of experience in an enterprise software delivery project
• a minimum of one year of experience managing a team

in addition:

• English and French essential
• linguistic requirement: (minimum starting level) functional in second official language (training may be provided to help the selected candidate reach the required level of fully functional)
• excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• excellent interpersonal skills to interact with clients and team members
• proven leadership skills, particularly in managing client expectations and delivering on commitments
• ability to collaborate effectively with others by sharing information or expertise, by seeking and valuing others’ insights, and by actively contributing to team efforts
• ability to consistently show initiative and resourcefulness to solve problems and ensure that high-quality work is produced, while respecting deadlines and budgetary considerations
• ability to adapt style, mode and tone based on audience and client reactions and the issues being addressed
• strong client focus and the ability to work in business partnerships
• demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage multiple projects concurrently within tight time frames


• fully functional in second official language
• experience using agile development methodology
• experience in estimating resources in order to meet project deadlines and expectations
• experience with SharePoint
• experience in information management and its application in web-based applications
• experience in enterprise content management projects
• experience working with web-based applications (i.e., custom applications and/or COTS-based applications)
