The Data and Statistics Office (DSO) manages the information used to support analysis within the monetary policy and financial system departments. Data management staff liaise with data sources and clients, evaluate data quality, generate multiple reports and packages, and disseminate data in a wide variety of formats both internally and externally.
The Analytical Environment Business Support (AEBS) provides business analysis and systems support to functions in the Analytic Environment. The business analysis activities contribute to the development, enhancement and support of systems that are used in the core business functions within the Analytic Environment. The team itself provides a business perspective on analytic, project management and business/system support to externally driven initiatives. As well, through planning and business/Information Technology Services (ITS) relationships, the AEBS provides analysis and guidance to the prioritization and delivery of ITS changes and projects for the departments.
provide system administration and quality assurance for systems used in the Analytic Environment collaborate with internal clients, IT developers and external agencies such as the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) and the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) deliver helpline services to internal and external clients, e.g., financial institutions develop and execute system test plans respond to internal and external queries and ad hoc requests for specific analysis, training and support assist the Senior Business Analyst in managing inventory of software used in the Analytic Environment assist the Senior Business Analyst in coordinating deployments and upgrades. assist the Senior Business Analyst in coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) prepare orientation kit for tools used in the Analytic Environment investigate trends and irregularities to identify causes and options for consideration that are then assessed by more senior colleagues participate in Type 14 projects and provide analytic support to projects through the use of qualitative or quantitative methodologies, including participating in the evolution of technology for data management
completed post-secondary education in information technology, statistics, finance or business analysis a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in at least one of the following disciplines: information technology, finance, statistics or business systems analysis English and French essential linguistic requirement: functional in second official language strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimum supervision solid analytic and problem-solving skills with the ability to gather information, resolve discrepancies in information, discern relevant data, and make sound decisions when giving advice or making recommendations demonstrated ability to troubleshoot system issues and questions remotely demonstrated capacity to plan, set priorities, and monitor projects and initiatives, ensuring follow-through and that quality work outputs are produced on time understanding of the fundamentals of computer systems and IT methodology used in the client server environments, as well as understanding of structured methodology and system development life cycle ability to write business impact analyses based on the requirements and needs of the client
fully functional in second official language familiarity with analytic tools, e.g., MATLAB, FAME experience in working with databases Business Analysis certification through a recognized learning organization
