As a member of the Web Communications Team, you will assist in web development and support. In short, you will work alongside the application development lead, enhancing and testing web applications for the many sites and statistical tools that power the Bank of Canada's web presence, including bankofcanada.ca, credit.bankofcanada.ca and currencymuseum.ca.
contribute to the ongoing evolution of the Banks web presence by offering insight into new technical opportunities to meet business objectives identify, recommend and implement better ways of doing things write and maintain custom plug-ins to support the needs of the Bank of Canada community create online tools and website features document your code create unit and quality-assurance tests for web applications and functions support the Banks web operations on a day-to-day basisThis position also assists in making delivery channels easier to use by improving overall information architecture, interaction design and web publishing processes. You will have contacts with Bank clients at all levels.
ability to communicate effectively in both official languages proven technical understanding of TCP/IP networking and firewalls demonstrated knowledge of unit testing (JUnit, PHPUnit) and continuous integration (Jenkins) knowledge of web standards knowledge of version control (SVN, Git, etc.) demonstrated experience employing iterative web development methods (e.g., Scrum)
