The Data and Statistics Office (DSO) manages the information used to support analysis within the monetary policy and financial system departments. Data-management staff liaise with data sources and clients, evaluate data quality, generate multiple reports and packages, and disseminate data in a wide variety of formats both internally and externally.
The Analytical Environment Business Support (AEBS) provides business analysis and systems support to functions in the Analytic Environment. The business analysis activities contribute to the development, enhancement and support of systems that are used in the core business functions within the Analytic Environment. The team itself provides a business perspective on analytic, project-management and business/system support to externally driven initiatives. As well, through planning and business/Information Technology Services (ITS) relationships, the AEBS provides analysis and guidance to the prioritization and delivery of ITS changes and projects for the departments.
lead a team of business systems analysts providing first-line support, business system administration and quality assurance for systems used in the Analytic Environment escalate serious issues/questions to the appropriate areas and provide suggested resolutions, often under conditions that have not been seen before lead the analysis phase by gathering and managing user needs and requirements lead functional testing, acceptance testing and the training of end-users contribute to the development, enhancement and support of systems that are used in the core business functions chair the Data Management committee coordinate projects and enhancements on behalf of economic departments participate in the annual ITS project planning cycle on behalf of the economic departments attend planning meetings with ITS and external partners provide direction, provide input and validate various project-related documents assess linkages between concurrent projects and initiatives ensure that projects remain on track report deviances to Assistant Director approve deployment plans on behalf of economic departments to avoid disruption of key business processes assist with documentation, review, testing and execution of the DSO business continuity plan participate in the development of the teams annual and longer-term work plan function as internal subject-matter expert providing advice to colleaguesAct as liaison to ITS work with ITS to articulate business requirements to further evolve the technology platform work with ITS to resolve issues that may require investigation and research on existing products
a completed college or university degree (preferably in information technology, project management or economics) English or French essential functional in second official language (training may be provided to help the selected candidate reach the required level of fully functional) familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems ability to quickly grasp and analyze complex issues, diagnose multi-dimensional problems, and devise insightful/appropriate responses or strategies to address them. broad knowledge in the areas of system support, application development, system development life cycle and business process analysis demonstrated capacity to set priorities and monitor projects and initiatives, ensuring follow-through ability to anticipate future opportunities or uncover potential problems and devise plans to address them ability to write business impact analyses based on the requirements and needs of the client ability to work with technical specialists and suppliers to ensure that client business needs and requirements are met ability to work independently or in a team environment with minimal supervision
