Salary Range

(annual salary): The Bank offers a competitive total compensation package with starting salaries, based on qualifications, generally ranging between $69,359 and $90,993* (job grade 16 or 17).

Job Summary

As a COTS Application Support/Developer, you will participate in the support, maintenance and implementation of enhancements to the key COTS (Commercial-Off-The-Shelf) applications at the Bank, for example, Microsoft Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Enterprise Content Management (ECM) (SharePoint/OpenText) and Rational Tools. You will be required to collaborate with vendors, clients and colleagues and apply Application Lifecycle Management principles as well as identify user requirements, assess available technologies and recommend best solutions to meet client needs.

Central Responsibilities

• lead implementation activities, e.g., set up environment and conduct system/acceptance tests
• lead installation, configuration and development activities
• provide second- and third-line application support
• provide support, including on-call, shift and/or weekend work as required, for systems within area of expertise
• monitor performance of systems and service agreements to ensure that ongoing service delivery standards, service levels and IT policies are met
• develop IT standards, guidelines and documentation for the relevant technology solutions environment
• provide on-the-job training to colleagues and clients
• provide guidance and support to more junior colleagues for common/routine problems
• analyze and resolve variations of common incidents and gather information about more complex problems
• provide support to colleagues for the more complex problems and for undertaking enhancements
• work with clients and ITS colleagues to determine user requirements and prepare detailed specifications
• participate in all phases of the development methodology cycle to implement the required information technology solutions to meet business requirements
• perform unit testing and support the creation of test cases
• develop and maintain collaborative relations with internal and external counterparts (partners, clients and suppliers) to support operational objectives

Key Requirements

• a completed university degree in computer science or related discipline


• an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

in addition:

• English or French essential
• minimum of 5 years of work experience in developing and supporting COTS applications based on a 3-tier architecture
• minimum of 5 years of work experience in developing and supporting applications running on at least one of the following application servers: Internet Information Services (IIS), WebLogic, Tomcat, WebSphere
• minimum of 2 years of work experience with ASP.NET, and/or related Microsoft scripting technologies
• strong working knowledge of JSP, Java, .NET, JavaScript, Ajax, etc.
• strong knowledge of SQL
• general knowledge of record management and file management concepts and evolution
• experience analyzing complex issues, diagnosing multi-dimensional problems and devising appropriate responses or strategies
• ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and demands
• strong verbal and written communication skills
• strong client focus and the ability to work in co-operation with business partners
• teamwork: the ability to work effectively with the other team members and IT teams


• ability to communicate effectively in both official languages
• knowledge of the following COTS: ATIPXpress, Planview, FM Space, $Universe, etc.
