Information Technology Services (ITS) is the primary information technology service provider for the Bank of Canada and, as such, facilitates the fulfillment of the Banks mandate. ITS is a flexible, adaptive organization that aims to exceed client expectations for the provision of consistent, high-quality service. ITS partners with clients and suppliers to deliver automated business solutions and office tools, and establishes and sustains the IT infrastructure necessary to support these solutions and tools.We are currently seeking three experienced Senior Solutions Architects, each to join one of the following three strategic programs:A. Analytic Environment (AE) Program and Currency Strategic ProgramB. Enterprise Content Management (ECM) ProgramC. Auctions and Markets Applications Program (AMAP)You will be responsible for contributing to the development and maintenance of the applications solution architecture. You are accountable for creating architectures for the development and integration of business and information systems to enable streamlined application interfaces, reduction of application redundancy and the efficient distribution of data in support of business objectives. You will ensure that the applications, data, network and infrastructure architectures meet evolving business requirements and meet standards for reliability, scalability and availability.
develop architectural framework for applications system development, maintenance and enhancement efforts, ensuring that data, infrastructure and applications architectures are aligned define and document the structure, connections and relationships of business processes, organizational work groups, data, applications, user interfaces, applications interfaces, infrastructure and network topology work with the Banks Enterprise Architecture group to apply Bank standards within the programs when necessary, facilitate the evaluation and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations and their implementation and migration into operations participate in all phases of the development methodology cycle to implement the required information technology, adding technical know-how, creativity and a seasoned perspective to initiatives and teams analyze business context (trends and business strategy) to derive the architecture in support of the solution translate architectural decisions into high-level designs; review and develop artifacts for alignment with the overall architecture research and monitor technology developments and industry trends, assess their applicability, functionality and reliability for the Bank, and recommend technologies that will enhance productivity and the achievement of the clients business objectives resolve complex problems related to systems within area of expertise; apply existing criteria in new ways and possibly develop new approaches take the lead in facilitating consensus with ITS colleagues on the proper level and pace of change and integration of technologies, considering present and envisioned application environment, technology environment and technical platforms provide key input to the resolution of architectural links and technology choices and ensure that appropriate questions are raised and answered by stakeholders in order to balance strategic integration issues with urgent business needs provide advice on technology purchases and on future projects or environment upgrades/modifications provide guidance and support to more junior colleagues for common/routine problems promote, reuse and apply existing solutions in new ways and help evolve new reusable components, patterns and templates build long-term relationships or partnerships with clients and suppliers to support evolving business needs; may be called upon to represent the Banks interests with stakeholders
for all three positions: ability to work with an Enterprise Architecture framework and group strong knowledge of ITIL processes knowledge and experience working with SunGard FAME strong knowledge of principles and best practices in software architecture and architectural/design patterns and frameworks knowledge in implementing secure applications excellent knowledge in all aspects of testing, including unit and stress testingin addition Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Program: knowledge and work experience with OpenText Content Server (Content Server Builder, Content Server API (LAPI), Content Web Services) knowledge and work experience with SharePoint-related software components and processes (site collections, sub sites, master pages, lists, custom lists, SharePoint Designer, InfoPath, WebParts, and custom WSPs and optimal deployment processes) knowledge and experience developing and deploying enterprise federated searchin addition Analytic Environment (AE) Program and Currency Strategic Program: knowledge and work experience with IBM DataStage, IBM Cognos knowledge and work experience with WebLogic and JBoss application servers, MS SQL Server and Oracle RDBMS knowledge of Enterprise Application Integration patterns and technologiesin addition Auctions and Markets Applications Program (AMAP): knowledge of the financial market and banking systems knowledge of transactional systems knowledge and work experience with WebLogic and JBoss application servers, MS SQL Server and Oracle RDBMS Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree or equivalent
