The Planview Business Objects/SQL Report Developer assists in the development, modification, maintenance and enhancement of the business intelligence (BI) capabilities within Planview, the Banks project and portfolio management application. These capabilities include Insight Analytics, Business Objects and MS Report Builder and other SQL-based tools. This assignment will provide candidates with an opportunity to be exposed to a variety of work with all kinds of people. This position will be of interest to candidates considering a career in IT with a focus on business intelligence and decision support.
Planview Business Intelligence and Decision Support contribute to the analysis, design and development of reports, such as the selection of appropriate Planview BI tool(s) work with the Business Planning team to understand and prioritize user requirements and provide input into technical solutions to achieve business needs work with clients and ITS colleagues to determine user requirements and prepare detailed specifications create reports and report templates participate in all phases of the development of reports, dashboards and scorecards by ensuring that data are configured and deployed appropriately provide support to colleagues for common/routine problems provide input on the appropriate direction and evolution of this functionality within the Planview application help develop end-user training and business-oriented meta data definitions Planview Business Intelligence Technical Expertise develop multi-dimensional semantic layer and BI query objects for end-users assist in the configuration of Planview BI tools, develop the semantic layer and meta data, and create reports and report definitions monitor and manage BI solution performance and suggest improvements participate in the implementation activities, e.g., conduct system/acceptance tests ensure that business-side solution development activities comply with standards and established methodologies and practices to facilitate effective communications with Application and Database Management Services (ADMS) Partnership with Application and Database Management Services develop and maintain collaborative relations with internal and external counterparts (partners, clients and suppliers) to support operational objectives analyze diagnostic information about uncommon cross-functional problems or issues and provide recommendations for resolution to technical teams, colleagues and/or management work in conjunction with ADMS to resolve complex as well as common/routine problems in a multi-functional setting, assessing and communicating issues of technology impact appropriately perform root-cause analysis such as troubleshooting BI tool problems and tuning for performance and communicating effectively
enrolled in a first or second year Business Intelligence System Infrastructure program hands-on development experience with a variety of BI tool architectures, functions and features in Business Objects and MS Report Builder good understanding of data warehouse and BI architecture, methodology and best practices proficiency with SQL and Excel great communication skills: were a multi-faceted team, so frequent and clear communication is a must self-driven work ethic: you need to be a self-starter who loves taking the initiative and seeing things through to completion curiosity and the desire to learn: our business is changing and growing fast
