Canadian Bank Note Company Limited - Identification Systems, is seeking a highly proficient Technician / Engineer who will be responsible for providing technical support to fully automated ID issuance systems as well as IT infrastructure. Some domestic travel is required.
* Reside at the customer site to provide an initial point of contact and on-site support for the customer; * Provide first and second line technical support to internal and external customers on site and remotely; * Provide ongoing training for operators on system usage on site; * Monitor, collect statistical information, and provide reporting on system performance; * Based on statistics, make recommendations to improve system performance; * Perform mechanical work to troubleshoot and resolve issues with production equipment; * Perform hardware repairs to the fully automated ID issuance systems such as replacing sensors, step motors, hard drives, power supplies, UPS Batteries, etc.; * Perform diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, o/s and network; * Plan and perform hardware installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair as necessary; * Plan and perform software installation, configuration, upgrade and patching; * Troubleshoot and resolve system issues including availability, security, stability or performance issues; * Maintain system inventory including spare parts and consumables; * Perform hardware preventive maintenance activities; * Provide 24x7 On-call support as required on site as well as remotely over the phone on rotation basis; * Maintain effective and timely communication with the customer; * Manage preparation of monthly Operational Status Reporting; * Establish priorities with team and manage on-site and off-site work activities; * Follow business and security procedures as communicated by CBN; * Follow security and access procedures, guidelines and policies, as communicated by the customer; * Working in shifts will be required (day shift - 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM/ evening shift – 3:30 PM to 11:00 PM / weekend shift).
* Degree or Diploma in Engineering / Technology with at least 3 work experience;* Successful candidates must preferably possess valid secret security clearance, or qualify for it;* Applicants must possess excellent communication skills in French and English (orally and in writing);* Must be able to work in different shifts and on call;* Ability to travel on short notice;* Must have a valid driver’s license;* Qualified candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in providing technical support directly to end users, covering one or many of the following: > Hardware: Desktop workstations, Commercial Inkjet and LaserJet printers, Laminators; > Software: Basic support and troubleshooting; > Networking: Basic support and troubleshooting; > Understanding of Help Desk tools and trouble ticket tracking processes; > Understanding of support agreements and their implied service levels; > Proven ability to write excellent technical documentation; > Experience with remote access administration software; > Experience with Centralized AV Management a plus; > Experience with backup solution such as Data Protector, Backup Exec or similar a plus; > Experience with Linux o/s, VMware, Windows server, Apache/Tomcat a plus; > Experience with Firewalls, VPN, Switches, LAN support, TCP/IP networks, NIDS and HIDS a plus; > Experience with Server hardware (standalone and blades), Tape Storage devices, RAID a plus.
