OPEN POSITION

Coordinator of School Services (Information and Technologies) – Southern communities

LOCATION OF WORK     

Mistissini – Administrative Centre

NATURE OF WORK

Reporting to the Director of Information & Technologies Services, the Coordinator of Information & Technologies Services - School Support (Southern Communities) - is responsible for technical and administrative duties in support of the I.T. Department. In addition, this position will assist with event planning and management, respond to inquiries, prepare reports, statistics, analyze results, ensure effective document and data management, and support with the implementation of I.T. hardware and initiatives.

This is a dedicated position to support the Southern Communities of our territory with their I.T. service needs.

The aim of this position is to ensure better management, sound operational practices, and enhanced services, while overall providing better services to schools and offices.

CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinating and overseeing services being provided to schools and offices related to IT (Southern communities: Waskaganish, Nemaska. Ouje-Bougoumou, Waswanipi and Mistissini);
  • Participate in the drawing up of objectives, programs, and budget of the department.
  • Coordinate and assess the implementation of specific I.T. programs.
  • Support with developing and updating of policies, systems, standards, and procedures, and ensure their appropriate application.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of up-to-date efficient and effective systems, databases, tools, and files.
  • Coordinate and evaluate the performance of personnel under his or her authority.
  • Complete tasks and produce deliverables that are aligned with the standards and expectations of the I.T. Services department.
  • Ensure that CSB standards are applied across all relevant projects and initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain effective communications and relations with relevant stakeholders across the CSB.
  • Support other related duties, as assigned by supervisor.

Other / Working Conditions:

•   The candidate for this position will be required to offer a great level of expertise in the field of hardware deployment and maintenance in order to meet the necessary employee profile the Cree School Board is looking for.

•   The candidate will be required to have a clear understanding of the vision of the Cree School Board in regard to prioritizing the support to the schools and to introduce any improvements that will help the computer integration in the classrooms.

•   This person must be able to develop a good team spirit and encourage team collaboration with his or her team members in order to promote a good collective performance.

•   This person must be proactive and be able to transmit this work philosophy to the rest of the technical team.

• Must have an excellent knowledge (expertise) in network design and in the physical deployment of secured and efficient computer network.

•   Must be available to travel to Cree communities assigned under his/her responsibility.

•   Will be required to take/communicate clear and precise decisions locally in order to ensure a proper and quick deployment to complete his or her mandates in a short time frame.

•   Knowledge of the security component in a computer network environment.

•   Knowledge of the TCP/IP networking technology.

•  Knowledge of Windows Server operating system and the Active Directory from Microsoft.

•   Knowledge of MS Office 365 suite, network and device security solutions and remote control software is important.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate specialty (e.g. Computer Science, Administration, etc.) or a combination of sufficient experience and relevant schooling. Or hold a senior executive or senior staff position, excluding a manager position in a board;

5 years of relevant experience;

Fluency in English is required.

The ability to work in French is an asset. 

The ability to speak Cree is an asset. 

High level of autonomy and communication skills;

Available to travel. 

BEGINNING OF EMPLOYMENT

As soon as possible.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

Full time permanent;

35hrs/week.

*The holder of the position may be entitled to certain benefits (vacation, statutory holidays, Northern allowance, housing and outings).

*Given the current salary regulations and guidelines at the Cree School Board, candidates from another Quebec School Board will be able to obtain a salary as per the scale above-mentioned. However, candidates that are not from the education sector are not eligible to a salary above the midpoint of the position's salary scale.
