North Bay Police Service is currently accepting applications for the position of Policy Development and Planning Administrator. The Policy Development and Planning Administrator will identify, define and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities as well as lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals. Additionally the incumbent will develop, review, revise and maintain all internal operational and administrative policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with appropriate Legislation, Adequacy and Effectiveness Standards, Regulations and organizational mandates/direction.

Prerequisite:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in grant and policy research and writing.
  • Demonstrated proven track record in securing new funding opportunities.
  • Proficiency in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of researching and developing policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating strategic planning activities, including presentation at and to an executive level.
  • Demonstrated experience in community/stakeholder engagement and fostering of professional relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate in a clear and concise manner both writing and verbally.
  • Proficient with MS Word and comfortable utilizing online tools across multiple platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize own work assignments.
  • Self-motivated.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Business Administration, or Communications.

Principal Tasks:

  • Proactively research and identify grant funding opportunities for the North Bay Police Service initiatives.
  • Build relationships and partnerships with external agencies and community stakeholders to identify new grant funding opportunities.
  • Serve as the key writer for funding proposals and applications based on guidance from respective areas for which funding is being secured.
  • Contribute to metrics established in support of monitoring the success and performance of projects against prescribed indicators.
  • Provide strategic planning advice to the Chief and Deputy Chief.
  • Recommend measures to improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Conduct analysis required to inform and implement organizational strategic direction as outlined in the strategic plan.
  • Lead the development and review of policies and procedures of the North Bay Police Service.
  • Research current best practices in public safety and liaise with other services across Ontario and Canada on upcoming trends in policing.
  • Ensure policy compliance with legislation, Provincial Adequacy Standards, North Bay Police Service Board By-laws and best practices.

The annual salary range for this position is $71,422 - $85,363.
