The North Bay Police Service is currently accepting applications for the position of permanent part-time (on call) 9-1-1 Call Taker / Dispatcher. This position requires the flexibility to work days or nights for scheduled and call-in shifts. You will be part of a dedicated team working in a fast paced environment

Prerequisite:

  • Successful completion of pre-employment testing.
  • Possess a Secondary School Diploma.

Principal Tasks:

  • Evaluating emergency calls;
  • Determining the appropriate level of response;
  • Dispatching the appropriate emergency service (Police and Fire);
  • Maintain radio communication and provide support to Police and Fire personnel;
  • Respond to requests for support services from field personnel;
  • Perform record queries using available resources when required.

Candidates for the above part-time position should possess the following skills:

  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Able to work as part of a team;
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities;
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and demanding environment;
  • Ability to take initiative and address issues before they develop into problems;
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills;
  • Well-developed data-entry skills in a computerized environment.

Compensation: $36.72 per hour + 8% in lieu of benefits and 5.4% vacation pay.

Hours: No minimum guarantee in terms of hours as per collective agreement.

Candidates will be evaluated in several stages, which will include testing, panel interview, personality assessment and a background investigation.
