About the position

We are establishing a pool of pre-qualified candidates to staff Executive Administrative Assistant positions for various departments at the Bank of Canada for either short term, term or regular positions.

You will provide full clerical and administrative support to departmental staff. You will also be accountable for a wide range of office management and operational support services for the department.

Your future responsibilities

You will manage inboxes and agendas for senior management, schedule and control their appointments, draft meeting agendas and help to prepare background meeting information. You will also coordinate travel arrangements and support managers with the process for expense claims.

You will take initiative to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the office by reformatting and converting documents, maintaining employee absence reports, ordering stationery supplies, sorting and distributing incoming mail, and answering and routing telephone calls. As an innovator, you will participate in departmental projects and initiatives and suggest process improvements. You will also be responsible for maintaining and updating the department’s filing and data systems.

Your education and experience

• high school diploma and a minimum of two full years of recent work experience providing administrative support services


• an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Your knowledge and skills

We are looking for a strong team player who has the ability to plan and organize work, anticipate needs, ask for clarification when required and react quickly to change. You maintain an attention to detail and monitor the quality of your work. You have intermediate computer skills with the Microsoft suite, including Outlook, Visio, Excel, Word and PowerPoint and have a strong knowledge of office procedures and related policies. You are also able to manage protected and confidential documents and information. As well, you possess strong written and oral communication skills, are able to write clear and grammatically correct short documents, and can convey straightforward messages.

• The salary range at hire for this position is typically from $47,388 to $58,538 (job grade 12), when you meet all qualifications and experience
• Performance pay for successfully meeting or exceeding expectations (3 to 5% or 7% of your salary, respectively)
