Scope:

Reporting to Director H.R., the HR Consultant provides human resources advice and counsel to Retail team within Oxford Properties’ Retail portfolio.

The primary purpose of this role is to assist in the implementation of HR strategies, programs and initiatives that help execute the business plans, strategies and goals of the organization. This role spends considerable time providing consulting support to manage HR issues and develop solutions. The incumbent will be directly responsible for the implementation of all HR programs and processes in areas such as change management, performance management, recruitment, compensation, leave / return-to-work management, employee engagement and Labour Relations.

Responsibilities:

 Understand business needs
 Establish collaborative partnerships
 Contribute to employee engagement
 Provide advice on collective agreements
 Establish positive relationships with union representatives
 Lead grievance resolution and conduce Labour / management meetings
 Provide solutions/advice on employee relations issues including performance management matters
 Lead recruitment efforts including candidate selection
 Facilitate employee training including new hire Orientation
 Conduct employee investigations and exit interviews as required.
 Participate in client strategy / planning meetings

Qualifications:

 Bilingual (English & French)
 College / University graduate preferable
 3- 5 years Human Resources experience in a Generalist capacity with a focus on employee relations
 1-2 years labour relations and grievance resolution experience required
 Flexibility and adaptability to frequently changing priorities and deadlines
 Excellent knowledge of provincial employment legislation, with experience in Ontario and Quebec
 Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interface at all levels within the organization.
 Excellent planning and organization skills
 Strong analytical and problem solving skills
 Strong computer proficiency, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project), Experience with HR web-based applications is an asset (Applicant Tracking Systems, eLearning platforms, etc.)
 Ability to work independently, as well as on a team
 Ability to exhibit discretion in handling confidential / sensitive information
 Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation, or working towards the designation is an asset
 Regular travel to various field locations to provide HR advice and services will be required
