Scope:

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our new and talented Creative team. This role would be reporting to the Manager, Creative in the Public Affairs Department.

The Creative team delivers in-house agency expertise within the OMERS organization by leading the creative direction, brand strategy, design and digital development of integrated marketing communication strategies for OMERS and OMERS Worldwide entities. Our offerings include information design; graphic design; pre-press production; project management; photography, video and multimedia production; and digital/emerging media strategy, design & development (deep digital, social media, responsive design, user experience, information architecture, content strategy, SEO, GUI design, front-end development, technical planning and CMS management).

As a contributing member of the Creative team, you will be responsible for taking a lead role in shaping the visual design of traditional and digital experiences for OMERS. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats and has a passion for design thinking, creativity and developing brand and design strategies focused on integrated communications.

We are looking for a talented mid to senior level designer with a 50/50 balance of both traditional and digital design expertise. You have a strong work ethic with an excellent knowledge of design process, integrated marketing communications, information design, and project development processes.

Responsibilities:

Brand and Design
Develop brand strategies and guidelines to ensure the integrity and consistency of the OMERS brand in internal and external communications
Translate business requirements and user needs into visual designs for both print and digital; working closely with Communications to ensure alignment with OMERS Communications Strategy
Translate content into visual storytelling opportunities (eg. Infographics, interactive applications, videos, etc.) by develop sketches and ideations to communicate ideas and concepts to the project team
Design and prepare files for pre-press production for Corporate Communications, Events, Pension Communications and other special projects (eg. annual reports, conference materials, etc.)
Design and develop GUI for OMERS website and intranet including designing for cross-platform and responsive design
Mentoring and working closely with other teams members throughout the OMERS organization to develop and design engaging Powerpoint presentations
Collaboration
Participate in brainstorms and collaborate with team members to develop new ideas for integrated communications
Keep up-to-date with design trends and digital technologies; share best practices with team members

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in video production as needed
Information architecture
Assist in market research, writing of proposals, creative briefs and project plans

Qualifications:

College or university degree in Graphic Design or related discipline
5-7 years experience in traditional and digital design
Solid understanding of integrated marketing communications, branding, information design and user-centered design process, from concept through production
Strong understanding of how to translate printed material into interactive content
Experience with CMS design and development
Basic knowledge of HTML
Knowledge of HTML 5, CSS, XML/XSL, JavaScript, JQuery (an asset)
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Design and Web)
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
A team player who enjoys collaborating with others to develop new ideas
Excellent time management skills
A strategic and creative thinker
