This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual with technical expertise in handling large or complex commercial and personal lines claims through all RSA Canada’s distribution channels .
This is a National Role with our Head Office Claims team, and will consist primarily of the examining and/or direct-handling of large or complex first party claims with exposures in Canada and internationally. The types of losses will focus on Commercial and Personal lines first party property claims, including Course of Construction and Equipment Breakdown.
In this role you will handle claims following a Project Managed Claims approach, whereby the claim handler seeks customer focused claim handling opportunities through efficient coordination of resources and stakeholders, by aligning industry experience and RSA’s expertise globally. This may include engaging and managing consultants, independent adjusters, accountants and/or engineers to help in confirming coverage, determine liability and assess damages, while developing a clear critical path to claim resolution.

This role may be located in Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and the GTA, or Halifax.

Vos objectifs pour ce poste

• Manage, investigate, analyze, negotiate and resolve large or complex claims, generally with exposures over $500,000 or involving a specialized kind of loss within RSA’s Project Managed Claims framework.
• Work with underwriting and loss prevention to identify potential risks, hazards and trends.
• Provide Easy, Efficient and Exceptional service to brokers, customers and colleagues.
• Deliver and exceed on all key performance indicators as it relates to loss development and loss adjustment expenses, claims leakage control and expense management.
• Mentor, guide and provide technical advice and support to regional file handlers to ensure consistent and effective claims handling
• Leverage your expertise in a creative, continuous improvement environment to support a model of best practice operations.
• Although you’ll generally work typical office hours, a flexible approach to work is required as you may need to attend loss scenes or other meetings with clients and key stakeholders

Ce que vous apportez à ce poste

• Technical expertise acquired through a minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience, handling large and/or complex property, causality, auto, energy, construction and/or equipment breakdown claims.
• Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position.
• Strong knowledge of Guidewire Claims Centre is an asset.
• Solid negotiation, project management and problem solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Undergraduate degree and CIP designation ideal.
• Knowledge of reinsurance an asset
• Ability to collaborate with and motivate others.
