We are looking for an Engineer, Mobility Radio to join the Xplornet Mobility team in Winnpeg, MB. The Engineer Mobility Radio will bring expertise in Radio Frequency network design and deployment to a team responsible for the planning, design, and deployment of Mobility radio infrastructure. The position is responsible for site planning; engineering, design; costing; and supporting project implementation. Responsibilities include coverage predictions, capacity dimensioning, site selection, backhaul design, RF configuration, and site integration. You will work closely with other members of the Mobility Network team to ensure accurate, timely deployment of networks and will work closely with the team to assist in the integration of new products/technology/features into the production network.

Key responsibilities include:

• Responsible for the build and operations of the Mobility Radio Network
• Design radio network infrastructure for mobility sites to achieve desired coverage and capacity requirements
• Work with contractors on the tower/rooftop design and re-enforcement work to support the installation of new sites or upgrades
• Work with cabinet manufacturers and contractors on site engineering for installation on collocated towers and rooftops
• Detailed design of site builds or upgrades, including related tower/rooftop work
• Develop and manage the engineering field plans detailing what needs to be installed and configured for the site to go live
• Create and maintain all RF coverage maps and updates with additions of new sites
• Design and build backhaul microwave point link systems if required
• Assist with the Safety Code 6 analysis prior to finalizing site design
• Willingly work after hours to accommodate maintenance window work requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field or equivalent knowledge and experience
• Five years’ experience with Mobility network engineering and optimization
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the design of RF mobility networks with excellent knowledge of RF propagation, MIMO, antennas and all RF accessories
• 2-3 years’ experience in LTE radio access and RR, BBU configuration
• Experience with RF prediction and analysis tools such as Planet, Atoll, Pathloss and MapInfo required
• Experience with backhaul microwave point-to-point link design, planning and licensing is an asset
• A valid drivers’ license (regular site surveys and field testing trips are required)
• Good understanding of networking, IP basic protocols/address planning
• Proven communication, analytical, organization and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
• Solid project management and business skills
• Self-motivated, self-starter, goal-oriented and works well under pressure
