We are looking for a Construction Manager in the Markham, ON location for a 3 month contract. In this role, you will build and or oversee the construction of site builds, overlays and site upgrade activities on a regional basis. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to ensuring site construction activities are executed safely, are high in quality, on time and on budget. This position is a technical hands-on working manager’s position. You will work closely with, and at times supervise resources from the Field Operations and or contractors to ensure build targets are achieved. Overnight or week long travel is a requirement. Individual must be willing to adapt to flexible work schedule.

Key responsibilities include:

• Schedule and direct regional site construction activities in logical steps, budget proper time and resources required to meet deadlines defined in the build schedule. Work closely with the build Project Manager and build coordinator to ensure builds are scheduled, adequately staffed and delivered on time and on budget. Ensure that changes in the construction scope are effectively managed in accordance with company procedures and the impact on cost, safety and build schedule is fully evaluated. Working with the Project Manager, prepare and submit budget estimates for contractor POs
• Inspect and review contractor work to ensure compliance with safety code 6 requirements, CSA 37-01 standards, contract documents, project drawings and site design parameters. Ensure the most cost-effective plan and schedule is implemented without compromising safety or build quality
• Work closely with rigging crews, prepare and install cabinets plus associated equipment. Assign projects to other available resources and supervise those installations
• Working with the Project Manager, prepare and submit budget estimates for contractor POs

• Ensure all change orders / requests between team members and contractor representatives are properly documented (i.e. verbal agreement followed up with a PO immediately). Work with the configuration team to ensure equipment is properly configured and allocated to the project
• Ensure that changes in the construction scope are effectively managed in accordance with company procedures and the impact on cost, safety and build schedule is fully evaluated
• Ensure all change orders / requests between team members and contractor representatives are properly documented (i.e. verbal agreement followed up with a PO immediately)
• Complete required IQTP testing and coverage validation testing

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Good knowledge of IP networks
• Basic physical telecommunications construction knowledge
• Minimum of 5 years experience in the operation of fixed wireless LAN and WAN environment.
• Completion of related post-secondary diploma/degree or equivalent through a combination of education and/or experience.
• CCNA or equivalent certification or relevant work experience.
• Previous experience with point to multipoint wireless networks and/or VSAT networks with an ISP would be an asset.
• An in depth understanding of the various disciplines involved in the site construction process
• Able to read and interpret engineered drawings
• Able to prepare estimates and schedules
• Able to read, interpret and apply provisions of construction contracts
• Knowledge of permitting and other construction requirements
• Knowledge of construction and maintenance techniques
• Working knowledge of all applicable Acts, Regulations and Codes
• Ability to effectively and appropriately delegate work load
