The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.
-Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario required
-Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required
-Masterís degree in Nursing or Education required
-Current ACLS certification required
-Ontario College Graduate Certificate in Perioperative Nursing program preferred
-CNA (Canadian Nurses Association) certification or Speciality Certificate in Perioperative preferred
Skill, Ability and Experience:
-Three (3) years recent experience in perioperative nursing and/or recovery room (PACU) required
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships required
-Ability to plan, organize, and set priorities and deliver education programs accordingly required
-Superior interpersonal, coaching, and leadership skills to facilitate identification and development of staff learning needs required
-Proven analytical thinking and problem solving skills required
-Advanced computer skills (i.e. MS Office Applications) required
-Demonstrated clinical expertise and skills related to the Operating Room and Recovery Room (PACU) required
-Commitment to promote professional practice and excellence in evidence-based, patient and family centred care required
-Demonstrated ability to provide effective clinical practice leadership and facilitate practice related change required
-Effective program planning, evaluation skills and knowledge transfer required
-Recent experience in Nursing Education/Instruction preferred
-Knowledge of LEAN implementation and process improvement preferred
-Proven ability to achieve outcomes through programs delivered to individuals and groups preferred
-Develop and implement nursing education including orientation, professional/ skill development and continuing nursing education
- Develop and implement organization wide education initiatives
- Serve as a clinical resource for nurses both within the clinical practice settings identified as above but also on a consultation basis to others within the Hospital
- Identify and lead the implementation of leading practices within the clinical setting
- Participate in relevant research initiatives
