We are currently looking for a Manager, IT Infrastructure Projects. Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, this position will focus on managing an IT infrastructure team, providing technical leadership relating to the delivery of small to large scale technical projects along with evaluating new technologies, maintaining existing and future technology standards of the corporate IT Infrastructure including security disaster recovery etc.
Infrastructure Design and Technology Planning: Understand the business goals, strategies, directions and requirements of the companys business units and ensure that these are translated into cost effective and robust technical architectures and solutions to support those initiatives. Work closely with the other IT managers to set project priorities, monitor the timely and seamless delivery of projects and present timely status reports of projects to departmental managers and business areas. Develop innovative thinking within the team with a view towards improved customer satisfaction and sound strategic application of technology within the organization. Act as an internal consultant for infrastructure projects for both internal and customer based. Develop/enforce good project management processes to ensure that best practices are followed with proper ownership, detailed technical planning, delivery and reporting. Maintains exposure to state-of-the-art technology trends, assess and evaluate current and emerging technologies to understand their potential applicability and cost savings to the organization. Develop business relationships with external technology suppliers and partners to ensure appropriate and cost effective solutions are delivered to the organization. Oversight on all infrastructure technology selection, sizing, capacity planning, high-availability and disaster recovery design/testing, systems management tools (e.g. SNMP, Cisco works, SMS), storage area networks (SAN), Email, Mobility etc. Ensure that appropriate IT infrastructure security controls and documentation is in place and enforced by the team. Oversight to ensure that detailed documentation relating to recommendations, justifications, controls, short and long term capacity planning, budgeting etc. are in place. Ensure that regular internal security reviews and external network security tests are performed. Present results to management team and ensure that any action items from these tests are completed in a timely manner.Lead role for any security incidents that are reported or observed (IT Security Officer). Establish proper documented controls to support all internal and external audit requirements. Other activities as required.Staff Support and Development: Set annual or as-necessary individual objectives for staff and assess performance to these objectives on a regular basis. Participate in staff development (i.e. training, seminars etc.). Co-ordinate staff scheduling such as shifts, holidays, hardware/software installations, special projects etc. Plan short and long term service requirements with users for levels of support based on their productivity e.g. year-end accounting processing. Leading and mentoring Project Analysts to analyze, design, troubleshoot, and implement network architectures. Ensure that staff maintains exposure to state-of-the-art technology trends and is encouraged to evaluate their potential use in the organization. Provides consulting services to developers on matters related to technology architecture. Develop and maintain SLAs around project delivery.Cost Controls: Create yearly and project based budgets with executive summary of cost benefits/justifications, Return on Investment etc. Oversight on all purchasing and receipting activities related to computer hardware, system software, communications, related maintenance contracts etc. Review sources of technologies and services to ensure that the best and the most cost effective are utilized. Review opportunities for cost efficiencies and recommend to management along with supporting documentation. Delivery project within approved budgets.
Bachelor degree, Post Graduate Diploma or Professional Degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent. Cisco certification preferably CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional). Microsoft certifications and extensive Project Management skills. Minimum 5 -7 years IT management experience. Minimum 5 -7 years experience in areas of network management, WAN, LAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, FTP, Proxy and traffic routing, Cisco, Firewall and routers, deploying and supporting Microsoft products (i.e. Exchange, SQL, Office etc.), SAN products, Virtualization, Citrix, Network architectures, IT security technologies and practices, Disaster Recovery, IT monitoring tools etc. Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.). Excellent time management, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; oral and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills. Excellent ability to multi-task and manage priorities under pressure with careful attention to detail.
