The Tax Manager, as a member of OMERS Private Equity (OPE) finance group, will be responsible for the management of tax matters for OPE.


The position’s primary responsibilities will include monitoring existing tax structures, ensuring continued compliance with applicable tax laws and assisting in the review and implementation of transaction-related tax structures; specifically:

•Assist with the structuring of OPE’s investments and divestitures in all jurisdictions (Canada, US and Europe) to minimize tax risks; including:

-odeveloping the tax model
-omanaging the tax due diligence process required for acquisitions
-working with external tax third–party advisors in developing the acquisition structure and interpreting and communicating the tax elements to the team

•Actively manage the implementation, maintenance and enhancement of OPE’s portfolio companies’ structures, including regular reviews of existing structures to ensure continued tax compliance with tax laws.

In addition to the above M&A activities, the Manager, Tax will also:

•Oversee and monitor OPE’s internal tax filings and compliance in all jurisdictions;

•Remain current with respect to Canadian tax law and expand tax knowledge of key tax elements (e.g. cash repatriation) to relevant jurisdictions outside of Canada (primarily UK and US)

•Work with the OPE CFO and OMERS, Tax in tailoring enterprise-wide tax policies and procedures to the unique needs of the private equity environment and liaise with OMERS, Tax and other investment entities to transfer best practices in tax, structuring and corporate organization.


•Minimum of 3 years of tax;

•Experience in assisting in or contributing to the design and implementation of acquisition
structures in the private equity industry

•CA designation is preferred, with completion of CICA In-depth Tax Course (or equivalent) mandatory

•Strong problem solving and analytical skills

•Collaborative, team player

•Ability to multi-task and thrive under pressure

•Exceptional organization skills; strong project and time management skills and ability to prioritize.
