We are looking for a Field Technician / Rigger to be located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The Field Technician / Rigger is responsible for the hands on day to day construction, integration, repair and maintenance of the fixed wireless network. This position reports to the Manager, Construction and will involve both on call support and off-hours work. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who works well both independently and as part of a greater team. Excellent organizational and communication skills are a must. Preference will be given to candidates with basic knowledge of IP Networking, intermediate knowledge of fixed wireless network deployments as well as a basic knowledge of construction and tower rigging.

Key responsibilities include:

Build, maintain and install Wireless Internet towers and all associated hardware and equipment installation
Interact effectively and productively with technical operations/maintenance group as well as other installation technicians
Maintain and care for all issued tools, equipment and components
Be able to work under minimum supervision
Perform all general ground duties associated with tower construction and equipment shelter maintenance
Install and maintain various associated hardware and equipment related to antennas, transmission lines, tower lighting (both incandescent and strobe) and grounding systems
Customer support escalations
Act as a prime in-field technical contact for support groups in the areas of network repair, maintenance, support and construction
Be able to work in all weather conditions and work long hours
Be able to work out of town for extended periods of time, which would include overnight stays
Follow established safety, engineering and operational processes and guidelines in all installation and maintenance activities. Exposure to industry standards for Health & Safety, Construction & CSA is an asset.

The ideal candidate will possess:

1 year related work experience and a degree/diploma from a related discipline.
Strong understanding of fixed wireless network architecture and infrastructure including hands-on experience.
Strong problem solving, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
Capable of working on a variety of projects and coordinating multiple priorities.
Basic understanding of IP networking
Experience deploying, configuring, and installing DW, Alpha, Ciena, Cisco, MRV, Motorola, Wimax and LTE equipment, including a working knowledge of these products.
Experience with the construction and maintenance of communication tower sites;
In depth experience and troubleshooting skills, ability to break problems down using an Analytical approach
Valid Driver’s License
Working knowledge of networking technologies including TCP/IP, routers, switches, DHCP.
