Position Summary

As a Psychologist in Homewood Specialized Services, you will be an integral part of a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team focused on delivering seamless services and programs to our clients and customers. What you'll be doing

• Provide psychological assessment services as part of the diagnostic clarification process for the purposes of treatment planning
• Conduct group psychotherapy sessions using best-practice treatment approaches which may include, but are not limited to, cognitive-behavioural therapy, exposure therapy and reprocessing (EMDR) as well as and mindfulness meditation strategies
• Involvement in program/service development through participating in quality improvement projects, designing psychotherapy groups and developing psycho-educational materials
• Actively participate in interdisciplinary clinical meetings, weekly group or session notes and other forms of communication as needed
• Liaise with the patient’s referral sources, and other external agencies connected to the patient, to provide clinical updates and facilitate aftercare as needed. This may include organizations such as Department of National Defense, Veteran Affairs Canada and WSIB.
• Participate in family meetings and/or meetings with the patient’s close associates when clinically indicated
• Collaborate and communicate with other team members to assure consistency in program philosophy and treatment practice and delivery
• Write psychological reports based on psychometric assessments that include clinical findings, diagnostic impressions, treatment implications and recommendations
• Facilitate interpersonal therapy and psycho-dynamic groups

What we're looking for

• PhD in Clinical Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited program
• Registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (or eligible)
• 3+ years’ experience with adults in the areas of anxiety and mood disorders, psychosis, eating disorders and other mental health disorders
• Demonstrated skills and experience in assessment, treatment and research
• Demonstrated success leading psycho-dynamic groups
• Training, education and experience in a variety of therapeutic modalities
• Collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to patient care
• Excellent judgment and decision making skills
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
