Cornwall Community Hospital (CCH) is an acute care hospital located in Cornwall, Ontario along the scenic St. Lawrence River. CCH provides a full range of acute inpatient, outpatient and community mental health services to a catchment area of 100,000 people from the communities of Cornwall, the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and to the Mohawk community of Akwesasne.

Summary of responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Diagnostic Services; the sonographer will organize and perform Abd/Gyn studies, and small part examinations; maintain and document high quality images; practice good patient care. The incumbent will be responsible for various technical aspects in the operation, calibration and testing of equipment

Requirements of the job

• Current registration with CMRTO in good standing
• Current registration with Sonography Canada
• Certified in abdomen/pelvis and obstetrical
• Experience in Vascular studies
• Recent Relevant Experience
• Excellent computer skills and good working knowledge of HIS, Ris, and PACS
• Demonstrated effective communication skills, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making and organizational skills
• Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work well with multiple interruptions
• Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Must meet physical demands of position including lifting over 60 lbs. and withstand constant standing and/or walking
• Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality
• Current certification in BCLS
• Demonstrated regular/punctual attendance
• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
• Functional level in both official languages (oral and written in English; oral in French) – and testing completed
