Required
• Grade 12 education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certification in Medical Devices Reprocessing through completion of Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario (MDRAO)Techniques course or completion of a course from a recognized Community College in medical device reprocessing.
• Must successfully fit test for a respirator. Required to wear task specific PPE.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, co-workers and management.
• Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) available to review)
• Must successfully complete the required training program within probationary period.


Duties
• Performs tasks related to reprocessing of medical instruments, devices and equipment
• Inspects and assembles equipment and instruments, cleans them and prepares them for sterilization.
• Performs core cleaning duties to ensure cleanliness of common and non-patient areas, internally and externally as well as equipment contained within QHC and associated properties.
• Restocks supplies in each area.
• Performs duties related to core housekeeping services including collecting, disposing, and transportation of trash, supplies, materials and equipment.
• Participates in scheduled cleaning projects as required.
• Performs hazardous material collection and packaging according to specified guidelines.
• Assists in transferring, positioning, or lifting patients under the direct supervision of a designated health care professional
• Ordering, and basic preparation and pick up of patient meals, water, ice, supplies, linen, mail and flowers in patient care areas.
• Transports specific equipment and supplies to other proper locations or storage areas within each hospital location in accordance with appropriate handling techniques.
