Position Summary

As an RN or an RPN, you will work independently and collaboratively as of North York General's inter-professional care team.

We are currently recruiting for full time, part time, permanent and temporary nursing positions in a variety of areas, including ICU, Medicine, Surgery, Maternal / Newborn, Mental Health, Transitional Care, Nursing Resource Team, Emergency, Reactivation Care Centre and Seniors Health Centre.

This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

On a practical level, you will

• Demonstrate the ability to function to the full scope of nursing practice per the College of Nurse of Ontario
• Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with patients/clients, families and other members of the health care team
• Think critically, set priorities and organize work in response to client/patient needs.
• Demonstrate knowledge of transfers and lifts
• Be committed to ongoing learning, professional development, and continuous quality improvement
• Have proficient skill level with computers, MS Word, Internet searches, data entry and patient information systems
• As an RN, assume a leadership/charge role with demonstrated evidence of self- motivation regarding continuing education in areas of patient assessment, patient education and related Clinical Specialties
• As an RN, Have effective organizational, problem-solving, prioritization, time-management and teaching skills
• Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good public relations and working relationships in a family centered care environment
• Demonstrate your ability to perform appropriately in emergency situations
• As an RPN, demonstrate knowledge of transfers and lifts
• Demonstrate evidence of self- motivation regarding continuing education in areas of patient assessment, and patient education

Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) Vacancies
• Registered Practical Nursing diploma from a recognized Community College
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario

Registered Nurse (RN) Vacancies
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing

For all nursing opportunities:
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required
• Current Medication Certificate
• Bilingualism in French/English an asset

What We Offer

We are searching for Full Time Regular, Full Time Temporary, Part-Time Regular, Part-Time Temporary, and Part-Time Casual Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses. A variety of shifts are available: 8 and 12-hour shifts; days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
