Résumé des responsabilités

Primary assignment to the Mental Health Program (inpatient, outpatient and community)

Reporting to the Manager, Professional Practice, you act as clinical expert for the MHP nursing staff. Your duties are:
• Identify, develop, implement, coordinate and evaluate training and orientation programs for trainee and nursing learning activities in support of professional development;
• Analyze and evaluate professional practice with nurses in the unit and promote skills upgrading;
• Participate in developing and updating protocols, policies, clinical pathways, medical directives and patient care techniques;
• Evaluate current practices based on best practices and promote the necessary changes;
• Identify specific training objectives for the patient care units in collaboration with the clinical manager;
• Respond on an ad hoc basis to the learning needs of nurses by guiding them or referring them to existing resources;
• Conduct performance audits and interpret the results to determine strategies for improvement
• Take part in internal and external provincial and regional committees by providing professional and educational advice;
• Through coaching, promote critical thinking within the interprofessional team.

Profil et expérience

• A bachelor’s degree in nursing;
• A valid certification of competence issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario;
• A minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in the mental health field;
• Applicants with at least one (1) year of clinical teaching experience and two (2) years experience in a field other than mental health will be considered first;
• A valid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate;
• Good clinical knowledge of mental health;
• Administrative skills (Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, email software);
• Intermediate-level proficiency in both official languages (French and English), spoken and written.
