CIMCO is currently looking for regular full time Piping Systems Designer to join our Engineering Services Team located in our Edmonton Office. This role would appeal to a Mechanical Technologist or Technician with 1 to 3 years’ of relevant experience with REVIT and CAD drafting technician to design and document mechanical systems for various sized projects, working under the supervision of a P.Eng.
Assist Project Engineers on various aspects of a project concentrating primarily on piping systems design.• Work closely with Project Engineers and Construction Department to produce 3D models and detailed shop and field fabrication drawings.• Review and analyze piping designs to ensure safe and efficient installation and operation.• Generate 3D BIM models from engineering design documents to LOD 350 within Revit MEP.• Generate, issue, and update engineering documentation such as; customer submittals, site instructions, construction drawings, system design schematics, construction manuals, commissioning manuals, and owner’s maintenance manuals.• Coordinate with construction and customer using 3D coordination tools.• Work with Virtual Design manager in creating and managing CAD process and standards using AutoCAD, Revit, & Navisworks.• Revise and expand CIMCO library of Revit BIM families.• Participate in developments/ improvement of other CIMCO engineering standards.
• A graduate of a 2-year or 3-year post-secondary engineering technology or applied science program.• Have excellent oral and written communication skills.• Experience using CAD 2D and 3D design software such as; AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, Solidworks.• Knowledge of site construction techniques and practices.• Knowledge of pipe system designs and drafting of piping system designs using both AutoCAD and REVIT• Producing Design Development and Construction Document sets based on mark-ups and redlines received from construction teams and or managers • Design project 3D model of the refrigeration equipment, piping, pipe supports, hanging details based on P&ID and information provided by the Project Engineer for recreational and industrial facilities. • Drawing will be primarily in the mechanical & Refrigeration discipline Other Desired Skills & Qualifications• Registration with the local Provincial Association of Technologists & Technicians.• Experience in creating custom menus and plugins for Autodesk software.• Creating dynamic and parametric blocks to update CAD standards.• Creating templates and macros in Autodesk and Microsoft Office Environment.• Familiarity with Google Sketchup or 3D environment scanning software.• Tech/C.Tech from a recognized Collegiate design program or equivalent• Strong understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer principals.• Strong communication and organizational skills and an ability to effectively manage internal and client relationships.• Ability to quickly learn and utilize design software.• Ability to quickly learn apply building and construction codes, and other related design standards.
