Job Summary

Provide management and employees with advice, information and professional services in all areas of human resources management and more specifically in the areas of staffing. The Human Resources Advisor serves both the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC).

Statement of Qualifications

Education

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labor or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or an acceptable combination of education, experience or training relevant to the position.
Degree equivalency

Experience

Experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations in staffing to all levels of management;
Experience in the interpretation and application of legislation, policies and directives related to staffing.

Assets:
Experience in human resources planning and employee or labour relations;
Experience in job evaluation;
Experience with the Hay Group Job Evaluation System.

Knowledge

Knowledge of current and emerging human resources trends

Abilities

Ability to analyze problems and provide advice related to human resources impacts;
Ability to work under pressure;
Ability to plan and organize changing priorities in an efficient manner;
Ability to effectively communicate orally;
Ability to effectively communicate in writing;
Ability to influence.
