Job Summary

The coordination and control of activities relating to the delivery of comprehensive compensation and benefits activities for the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), including quality assurance, implementation of compensation entitlements, research and analysis of compensation issues and the provision of advice and guidance to managers and also to employees.

Statement of Qualifications

Education

Successful completion of secondary school education or employer approved alternatives.
Degree equivalency

Experience

*Significant and recent experience in the Federal Public Service pay and benefits;
*Significant experience providing pay and benefits advice to clients;
*Significant experience in processing complex pay actions;
Experience working with the Phoenix pay system;
Experience using a Human Resources Management System (i.e.: My GCHR) would be considered an asset.

*Significant is equivalent to three (3) or more years of experience.

Knowledge

Strong knowledge of pay and benefits regulations, policies, directives and legislation;
Knowledge of collective agreements, Terms & Conditions of Employment including the executive group of the Federal Public Service.

Abilities

Ability to analyze complex pay issues;
Ability to propose viable solutions using tact and discretion;
Ability to communicate effectively orally;
Ability to communicate effectively in writing;
Ability to work independently;
Ability to manage a variety of activities with changing priorities in order to meet deadlines.
