Emergency preparedness is a critical aspect of CCH operations. It is essential that all staff and physicians receive training and understand their roles and responsibilities in this field.

Summary of responsibilities

As a specialist in social work the incumbent will provide comprehensive care to sexually assaulted persons and victims of intimate partner violence as well as embody a culture of caregiver inclusion in the patient’s plan of care.

Requirements of the job

• Master’s Degree in Social Work
• Current registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience and demonstrated expertise in trauma, dissociation and the symptomatology related to sexual assault and intimate partner violence or relative experience
• Demonstrated case management experience
• Valid driver's license and access to own transportation
• Proven ability to manage crisis situations
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to develop a community network
• Ability to work independently
• Strong written and communication skills
• Good computer skills
• Demonstrated regular, punctual attendance
• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety

Assets:
• Certified in non-violent crisis intervention
• Experience in criminal court
• Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Trained
• Functional level in both official languages (oral and written in English; oral in French – and testing completed)
