Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) acts as a main point of contact for management, employees and unions in all matters related to labour relations. The HRBP provides direction and insight in matters relating to labour relations, employee relations, performance management, organizational development, and change management, in accordance with the Hospital’s established policies and procedures, relevant legislation and best practices. The HRBP is responsible for delivering HR policies and programs and is consulted for policy interpretation and development. The HRBP provides coaching and drives various initiatives in order to continuously improve employee engagement, productivity and organizational performance and helps promote a work environment conducive to the welfare and development of all. General Accountabilities • Provide support in the application and interpretation of collective agreements, policies and practices, managing the collective agreement negotiations process by researching, drafting and presenting key issues to facilitate the bargaining process, and implementing and communicating changes to policies and/or procedures as a result. • Manage the grievance process, including research and preparation, draft responses and provide support and expertise in the arbitration process, provide training and conduct presentations on labour relations. • Act as a resource to management in the performance management process, including drafting letters, providing support in conducting investigations, addressing concerns related to human rights and workplace harassment. • Act as management representative for labour-management meetings with assigned unions. • Support the Human Resources department by assuming responsibility for projects and team initiatives • Administering the job evaluation and classification process, conducting compensation-related surveys and comparative studies
• A degree or diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration or in a related discipline • Must possess 3 years of progressive human resources work experience, with a focus in labour relations. • Experience in a unionized environment, preferably in Healthcare or the Public Sector. • Knowledge of HR best practices in labour and employee relations, Health and Safety, Wellness, workforce planning, recruitment and on-boarding, training and development, compensation and benefits, employee engagement, performance management, succession planning, project management and change management; • Strong presentation, facilitation and negotiations skills; • Excellent knowledge of provincial legislation including the Ontario Human Rights Code, Pay Equity Act, Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards Act, etc.; • Proficient in applicable computer applications, tools and related software • Customer service orientation and a results-focused, can-do attitude; • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills; • Strong project management and change management skills and experience; • Ability to work effectively in a team and autonomously to manage tight deadlines and multiple priorities; • Ability to engage and influence outcomes; • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, tact and a high degree of confidentiality; • Initiative, creativity and integrity; Assets: • Bilingual (English and French). • CHRP or CHRL designation.
